— Olwen D.

This isn’t going to be easy, but no true adventure ever is.

What would it mean to be able to calm the constantly raging battle of thoughts and emotions within you?

You want to stop the battle in your head, be proud of who you are, and find inner peace. But obstacles keep standing in your way…

  • Suppressing anger and frustration

  • Struggling to express emotions.

  • Bearing the weight of obligations.

  • Worry and anxiety

All these things turn the inner battle into an all-out war.

 I hear you.

Like so many people, I felt ashamed that I couldn't just flip a switch and get these things under control.

My life felt chaotic and messy. I felt like I was being controlled by swings of emotion that left me lost in a dark place.

I used alcohol to numb the inadequacy I felt, cope with unresolved pain, and find relief from the fight in my head.

What I didn't realize—and what most folks don't realize—is that our relationship with alcohol masks deeper wounds.

That's why my approach to alcohol coaching isn't just about kicking a habit or living with a disease.

The work we do with Internal Family Systems goes much deeper…

You will learn to connect to your true Self, with its innate calmness, courage, and curiosity as your guide and putting you back in your rightful place of power.

You will access your own capability and confidence. This will allow you to explore your inner terrain and form relationships with the conflicting parts of yourself.

This IFS coaching program will not tell you to “get in control!”

Instead, you will be coached on how to become more Self-led in order to connect with the part of you that benefits from drinking.

You will learn how that drinking part of you is trying to help.

The real value is…

You start befriending, not fighting, yourself—even if you are still drinking.

As that inner relationship forms, you will begin to understand the role alcohol plays in your life and discover that you can let go of that role.

Once that need is healed and the role released, the behavior changes.

Right off the bat, Cole offered a safe place to be honest and vulnerable, which, in turn, offers a safe place to start a recovering, learning, and growing journey.
— Chris J.
What I’ve grown to appreciate is that it was less the tactical response techniques that I learned from Cole, and more the change in perspective to look at the situation differently or you could say, realistically

So, what is Internal Family Systems?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) recognizes and normalizes the idea that we are made up of many different and often conflicting parts. These parts can take on different roles.

The goal of IFS is to find inner balance and peace by connecting people with their core Self and becoming Self-led.

The Self is like the wise and calm center of who you are. When you're connected to your Self, you can understand and heal the different parts of you that might be in conflict or hurting.

The Self helps you stay balanced and guides you to make healthier choices, leading to a more peaceful and authentic life.

This style of coaching involves getting to know the different parts of yourself, understanding their roles, and healing any emotional pain they might hold.

This understanding brings enlightenment and knowledge about your inner workings.

By doing this, you can become more self-aware and compassionate towards your parts and live more authentically, which leads to lasting personal growth and emotional well-being.

Even though this is complex, Cole makes it easy to understand and it makes sense. Cole is a fantastic coach. He makes you feel comfortable and at ease.
— Anna H.
After experiencing some parts communicating and even interacting with each other, I am more confident that this is a direction I want to pursue. It has brought good insights even though I’ve just started doing the work.
— Roberta C.

I had the opportunity to share my story and talk about the power of the IFS model.

Our Parts and Their Roles

Below I have created an infographic that gives you an overview of the basic structure of our parts and the roles that they can take on within our system.

This is by no means comprehensive but it does give you some idea of the parts that we may work with during our sessions.

Cole demonstrates the 8 C’s of the Self in his coaching. Through his calmness and confidence, two of the ‘C’s’, I could more easily access the calmness and confidence within myself. This allowed me to look deeper, and accept all of my parts, even if they were ashamed and fearful.

This approach, specifically Cole’s teaching, helped me relinquish a lot of shame and guilt I’ve been carrying for a long time. This tiny bit of surrender has allowed me to broaden my perspective - instead of living in self-blame 24/7 there is a tiny little opening where I can clearly see how my parts are doing their absolute best to protect me. I am getting to know these parts, and I’ve got to be honest... it’s kinda fun getting to meet them all as individuals.
— Jody C.
